Drainage, Driveways & Site Work That Lasts

Driveway washing out every spring? Standing water where it shouldn't be? Need a road to your back lot that can handle real trucks? GSS delivers engineering-driven site solutions with hands-on project management — not guesswork. Plus: battery storage design for homesteads with existing solar.

Engineering-Driven Site Work

Engineering Behind Every Project

Todd Guerdat holds a PhD in Biological & Agricultural Engineering and spent 5 years as a USDA NRCS Civil Engineer. He manages every project personally — from the initial site assessment through final grading — and brings in experienced crew members when the scope calls for it. The difference is that engineering judgment drives the work, not rules of thumb.

You Get a Site Assessment First

Before any equipment moves, Todd walks your property, evaluates soils and drainage patterns, and provides a written scope with a clear price. No surprises.

Everything Is Sized, Not Guessed

Culverts are hydraulically sized. Roads are specified for your soil type and traffic load. Drainage is graded to move water where it belongs — not just "away."

Direct Accountability

Todd manages every project directly and is on site for critical work. When the scope requires additional hands, he brings in crew he trusts. No layers between you and the person making decisions.

Drainage Problems & Erosion Control

Water pooling in your yard, driveway, or fields? Erosion eating away at a slope or stream bank? GSS designs and installs swale systems, culverts, outlet structures, and slope stabilization that actually solve the problem — because every installation is hydraulically sized for your site's specific water volume and soil conditions. This isn't fill-and-grade guesswork.

Common projects: Yard drainage, driveway washout repair, foundation grading, slope stabilization, catch basin installation, agricultural field drainage

Driveways, Access Roads & Farm Lanes

Need a new driveway, a road to your back lot, or a farm lane that doesn't turn to mud every April? GSS builds roads that last because they're designed for your actual soil type and traffic — with proper base course, geotextile fabric, cross-drainage culverts, and gravel sizing. The difference between a road that sheds water and one that traps it is engineering, not luck.

Common projects: Gravel driveway construction and regrading, forest access roads, farm lanes, property access for building lots, geogrid-reinforced roads on soft soils
🌿

Farm Conservation Projects (NRCS / EQIP Funded)

If you have an EQIP, AMA, or CSP contract through NRCS, GSS can design and build the conservation practices on your farm — grassed waterways, diversions, farmstead runoff systems, retention ponds, filter strips, and heavy use area protection. Todd's 5 years as an NRCS Civil Engineer means your project is built to the exact federal standards required for payment approval.

How funding works: NRCS reimburses you at federal payment schedule rates after the practice passes inspection. GSS can help you navigate the application process and build the practices to spec.

Ponds, Retention Basins & Water Features

Farm ponds, retention basins for stormwater management, livestock watering systems, and constructed wetlands — designed with proper soil investigation and hydrologic analysis to hold water reliably and meet any applicable permit requirements. Not just a hole in the ground.

Homestead & Farm Infrastructure

Built for How You Actually Use Your Land

Whether you're running a small farm, building out a homestead, or just want structures that hold up to New Hampshire weather, GSS builds agricultural infrastructure with the same engineering approach we bring to drainage and site work. High tunnels, greenhouses, chicken housing, garden irrigation — practical projects built to last.

High Tunnels & Greenhouses

Season extension structures designed and built for New Hampshire conditions — from NRCS-spec high tunnels eligible for EQIP cost-share funding to smaller hobby greenhouses. Includes site preparation, foundation work, structure assembly, and interior bed layout. Todd's CEA background means your growing environment is designed for production, not just assembly.

Poultry Housing & Livestock Structures

Chicken coops, covered runs, and small livestock shelters built for durability, predator protection, and easy management. Custom sizing for your flock and property. The structures shown here are projects we've completed for local homesteads — not catalog kits.

Garden & Farm Irrigation

Drip irrigation design and installation for gardens, high tunnels, and small-acreage farm plots. Properly zoned systems that deliver the right amount of water to each crop area — not a hose with holes in it. Ties directly into NRCS irrigation water management practices for producers with EQIP contracts.

NRCS Cost-Share Eligible

Many of these projects — high tunnels, season extension, irrigation systems — qualify for EQIP or AMA cost-share funding through NRCS. Todd's TSP certification (in progress) and 5 years of NRCS engineering experience mean your project is designed to meet federal standards from the start, so it passes inspection the first time.

Battery Storage Design for Existing Solar Arrays

Already have solar panels on your homestead but no battery backup? When the grid goes down, your solar system shuts off — even on a sunny day. GSS designs battery storage systems that change that, giving you energy independence when you need it most.

Todd evaluates your existing solar installation, electrical panel, energy usage patterns, and backup goals to design the right battery system — sized correctly for your household, not oversold by a manufacturer's sales team. Independent design means you get the system that fits your needs and budget, not the one with the highest commission.

This is design and specification work, not installation. GSS provides the engineered design package; you choose a licensed electrician to install it — or GSS can recommend qualified installers in the Seacoast area.

What You Get

Independent System AssessmentReview of your current solar array, inverter, and panel capacity
Load AnalysisWhat needs to stay on during an outage, and for how long
Battery System SpecificationBrand, capacity, and configuration matched to your goals and budget
Electrical Design PackageReady for your installer — panel modifications, transfer switch, wiring
ROI & Payback AnalysisHonest numbers, not sales projections

Takes about 10 minutes. Todd follows up within one business day.

Who This Is For

Homeowners and small farm operators in NH and New England who already have a grid-tied solar PV system and want to add battery storage for backup power, energy independence, or time-of-use savings. Especially relevant for properties with well pumps, medical equipment, or livestock operations that can't afford extended outages.

We Build It

Todd and his crew execute the project with the same engineering judgment that shaped the design. He's on site managing every phase — and when conditions change, decisions happen in the field, not in a phone call to an office.

"We approach every project the same way — understand the site, design it properly, build it right the first time. It costs less than doing it twice."
— Todd Guerdat, PhD
